Bhajan means devotion and devotion is a personal connection between the devotee and God. Bhajan is also worship through song that can be in praise of Rama, Krishna,Ganesha,Shiva, and their many incarnations. Throughout India, Bhajans always had,and still has today,a very deep and profound effect on the daily lives of the people.
Ratula Sen is a classical musician by training.She studied with Ustad Yunus Husain Khan of Agra gharana.She has also had training under Srimati Naina Devi and Pandit D.T.Joshi.Ratula has performed extensively worldwide and her music has been broadcast over several European and the U.S.radio. She is also well known as a composer and arranger. In this album, she has composed the music to the tracks set in classical ragas like Hanswadhani,Yaman,Gorakh Kalyan,Jog,Bhatiyar, Kalavati and Kaushik Dhani.
The bhajans chosen for this album are by Meerabai, Tulsidas,Kabirdas and Paramananda Swami.
