BLUES: Electric Blues, ROCK: Roots Rock
Details:
Vocalist and guitarist Johnny Goodwin, bassist Joe Miles, and drummer Mike Safron make up the blues threesome known as the River City Blues Band.
The group formed in 1993 in St. Louis, MO, though some of the original lineup was a little different.
The River City Blues Band started performing in small clubs and anywhere they could hope to draw in a few new fans.
As time went by, the guys began to add more folk-rock and roots-rock numbers to their blues act.
In 2000, the band finally released a self-titled debut album.
Some local artists helped out on the recording, including drummer Andy Marks, pianist Bob Lohr, and harmonica player Matt Morell.
Some of the tracks from the first album are "I've Been Had," "Got to Find a Baby," "Can't Stand the Pain," "Treat Her Right," and "Little Ditty." Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide Fans of 70's progressive rock may interested to know that the drummer on the CD, Mike Safron, was a member of the group Pavlov's Dog.
Mike also did stints with Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley.
Pianist Bob Lohr is currently a member of Berry's band.
River City Blues has been a fixture in St Louis for a number of years.
They have a dedicated fan base and have been lucky enough to support acts such as Chuck Berry, Chris Duarte, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Robin Trower and Junior Brown.
