Chamber punk and cabaret funk. An eerie theatrical and compelling set of songs that combine the spirit of 20's berlin cabaret with forays into experimental pop-punk and funk.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Goth, POP: Quirky
Details:
Apartment is kind of like a dancing toothless woman in a bar but somehow she's kind of attractive or, like a really sick family that asks, 'please come for dinner'.
Disturbing, perhaps, but apartment never fails to entertain.
MEMBERS: Caila Lipovsky - poet/vocals Christine Heinisch - keys, cornet and bg vocals Ariella Lake - guitar Natalie Nguyen - cello Barry Bennett - drums Mr.Bass - Bass
REVIEWS: ...a fractured theatrical and sometimes sinister (but not goth) stew of strident witty art punk.
- Monica Kendrick - Chicago Reader
There is a charmingly dark, theatrical, witty overtone to both the lyrics and the execution of the various musicians on this disc....
What apartment does with this disc will be anyone's guess; the creativity and talent is nearly overwhelming, so much so that if that dark sense of humor wasn't present, it would be over the top. You get a cast of characters that fill this "Apartment"'s nooks and crannies with a devilishly delightful set of tunes.
