Three-chords-and-punt, sonic blast of 12 catchy tunes from NYC's seminal indie standouts. Debut CD from 1996, re-issued as part of a special 10th Anniversary Edition.
12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Surf Rock
Details:
Iâm not in the habit of reviewing older albums but I canât resist this one: itâs a cool keeper. The Baghdaddios are a cross between college rock and punk pop; They Might Be Giants meets The Ramones.
âWelcome To New Yorkâ is a great intro to the album and that city. Itâs a lively and rude shout-out to some of the reasons why The City That Never Sleeps canât get any shut-eye. (If youâre making a movie in The Big Apple, this belongs on your soundtrack.) âAbbie Hoffmanâ is a folky, heartfelt, harmonica-laden tip of the hat to the Yippie founder which manages to never get mawkish. This six-minute song is a far superior tribute to Hoffman than the hammy indie film âSteal This Movie.â The jangling and nerve-jangling âNeilâs In Rehabâ is something to play for anyone close you to who needs to take steps towards a program with 12 steps.
