Details:
Curtis McClain is one of the most impacting forces behind Chicagoâs favorite genre-house music. Those heavily into the history of house music can confirm that Curtis was apart of a movement started over 20 years ago that lives on further than any other Chicago sound.

House music was developed as a voice for those that love to dance to mixed beats at live clubs and parties. Hits such as âRock Your Bodyâ catapulted his career and paved the way for many house musicians. You can also say his vocals are credited for the new wave of Chicago juke music today. A widely popular video site such as YouTube has tons of footage showcasing âRock Your Bodyâ as itâs still very popular. The song will always be an original piece as it was the first ever house track to use the piano as its primary instrument.

Curtis McClain began performing music with producer Marshall Jefferson while working together at the Postal Service in downtown Chicago. While working nights with two others, a group was initiated to create a sound unlike any other. From the promotion of DJ Ron Hardy, the group was able to transform into a powerhouse making a name for themselves around the world. Curtis was very instrumental in the house sound having had no formal training in music, but professionally embracing the keyboard and guitar from other musicians.

In the late 80âs when the groupâs sound took flight, there were just five cities familiar with house music. Once the guys toured, performing particularly in big cities such as New York, house music grew to have its own voice everywhere. Curtis has toured many areas including Canada and across seas in Europe. Other songs he helped create became world-wide as well such as âRide the Rhythmâ and âGive Me Back the Love.â Curtis took a long hiatus from recording for personal reasons, and ironically got back reconnected with long-time friend and musician, Marshall Jefferson.

Now, heâs back in the studio doing more writing and producing than ever before. Heâs currently working on his new album with Marshall Jefferson, Harry Dennis, and others. The album will cover much of his earlier songs re-mastered as well as a few ballads this time around. He loves the loyalty and admiration from fans which motivates him to continue creating music in a positive environment. His impressive contributions and house fans have maintained his presence is still felt, and this time, itâs here to stay.
