Catching Fire, from the backwoods of Barrie, Ontario is a band that refuses to be pigeon holed into one specific genre of music.

Their style is unlike anything and thus labelling them would only make them out to be less than what they are. Despite the broad range of influences, from nirvana to nofx to Metallica, the sound they produce is distinct, unique and unforgettable.

Catching Fire has been together for over 10 years now and has played an uncountable number of gigs in this time. But before the birth of Catching Fire Matt Burns (bassist and vocalist) and Dan Breadner (guitarist and vocalist) were involved in various different projects that brought them together as a song writing team to be reckoned with. Creative differences between them and their drummer led to the search for someone who could compliment the group with attitude and style. That search came to a head when they met Steve Belanger, he proved to be the spark they had needed to start the band. Steve also coined the moment by naming the band Catching Fire.

The songs, each very different than the last are blending easy pop melodies with anthemic choruses. Their songs urge the crowd to sing along and audience involment is key to their popularity. Matt and Dan's contrasting vocal styles are used to their advantage in creating fun harmonies evident in songs like "Whiskey Tooth". "Roll It" is the crowd favourite which is a self affirming tale filled with haunting melodies, strong harmonies and a fast pace to boot, producing a sort of catharsis in the crowd.

On the stage Catching Fire will not lose your attention, Matt especially plays the crowd with his laid back, fun loving attitude and unique vocals get everyone in the mood. Dan displays a technical excellence that makes him look so easy with the grace of his skills and passion for his music. On the drums Steve is a power house of uninterrupted beats and hooks that grab you and wonât let go, simply watching him will tire you out. The three of them create a sound that will stay in your head turn it to mush and leave you wanting more, way more.
