Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Jay Denton writes with the soul of his Texas roots and the energy of the big city. Born and raised in Dallas with his family who had a steady flow of singer-songwriters such as Pierce Pettis, James Taylor, Robert Earl Keene, and Pat Green on the stereo, Jay picked up the guitar and started writing songs by the time he was 12 years old. He started off like most of his piers playing punk rock on the electric guitar, but at the age of 15 he decided to take up the acoustic - which changed his life and he never looked back.

In 2005 Jay moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, and after 4 years there and months spent in New Zealand, India, and East Africa, he returned to LA in 2010 to record My Feet Begin To Move.

Deeply touched by his own experiences across 7 continents, Jayâs inspiration stems from the themes of hope, struggle, joy, and reality that resonate with people no matter where theyâve come from. His songs range from hard-hitting tunes about freedom, risk, and change, to the wonderfully terrifying night of asking his high school sweetheart to be his girlfriend; from the rivers of the Amazon, the hills of East Africa, his time at USC, suspended over the cliffs of Australia, and much more

Musical influences include the Goo Goo Dolls, Dispatch, NeedToBreathe, Pat Green, Gavin Degraw, U2, Shawn McDonald, and others. Beneath it all is Jayâs heart for God and for people and the desire to capture and share hope, love, struggle, and raw, real life through his music.
