ROCK: Rockabilly, ROCK: Surf Rock

Details:
Instrumental rock once dominated the charts in the United States. Duane Eddy records were in homes all across America, Dick Dale became king of the surf guitar and Link Wray entertained the coolest of cool. Records like Honky Tonk by Bill Doggett and Last Date by Floyd Kramer were at the top of the charts. Those days are gone but not forgotten. Rockabilly revivalists are popping up everywhere. Surf guitar bands have once again become popular due to groups like Los Straightjackets. Enter the The Buckrabbits. The Buckrabbits are a rocking trio from Montgomery Al. What they do is rocking guitar-based instrumentals. They combine elements of surf guitar with blues, rockabilly and country and western creating a modern day version of Link Wray and the Raymen or Duane Eddy and the Rebels. The Idea for the group started with an afternoon recording session with Jim Marrer at Zero Return studio in Atlanta. Guitarist Jamie Hamilton got together with famous Bassist RW Grigsby and Drummer Matt Kimbrell to record some 50s style instrumental Rock and Roll. Jim has done great work with Sci Fi surfers Man or Astroman. The live side of the group did not come so quickly. RW moved back to California and Matt stays busy as an in demand drummer in the Birmingham area. Jamie got together with Adam Strickland on upright bass and Tracy Harris on the drums and started gigging locally. Guitarist Jamie Hamilton has been a fixture on the Alabama roots music scene for many years and wrangles hillbilly rock from his Scott Hembry custom doubleneck and a bevy of vintage archtops. Adam Strickland played upright bass in the southeastern favorite the Alabama Gravy Soppers. Tracy and Jamie toured together in the late eighties and nineties in Roots rockin favorites The Roadrunners.
