Gleno è la più grande fatica di Bepi & The Prismas finora realizzata. Un album che, nelle sue intenzioni, mantiene le caratteristiche quasi cabarettistiche dei precedenti lavori, ma non si vergogna, così come fu per "Pase zo" nel CD 5ar!, di affrontare temi decisamente seri, senza nemmeno il velo dell'ironia o della satira. In questo caso su tutti i brani spicca "Gleno", un lungo e musicalmente complesso e sontuoso tributo alle vittime del disastro del Gleno, in Valle di Scalve, il 1 dicembre 1923, quando il crollo della diga nella piana omonima spazzò via i paesi che sorgevano sulle sponde dei fiumi Povo, Dezzo e Oglio, causando la morte di più di 350 persone. Non mancano tuttavia momenti più leggeri e addirittura comici, in perfetto stile Bepi & The Prismas. Da segnalare la presenza, come al solito, di ospiti di rilievo come la cantante Tiziana Manenti, nome importante del christian pop, che in "Spèi fèmne" si cala perfettamente nel ruolo di femmina ammaliatrice, ma anche il violinista bresciano Vincenzo Albini, il liutaio Valter Biella, ri-scopritore del baghèt (cornamusa bergamasca), il tastierista Stefano Berto (già con Anna Oxa) e diversi altri.
La parentesi sportiva stavolta si occupa di Mario Poletti ("Erba e néf"), skyrunner clusonese capace di completare il Sentiero delle Orobie (84 km per 5000 m di dislivello) in 8h 52' e 31" e qui nella simpatica veste di cantante di se stesso.
Il vero limite (o la vera marcia in più) resta sempre l'uso del dialetto bergamasco, molto crudo e molto duro, quello vero della Valle Seriana, stemperato in parte, almeno stavolta, dalle traduzioni presenti nella versione cartacea del libretto e nel sito www.ilbepi.com alla voce "Cansù".
Due brani tuttavia sono pressochè interamente in italiano: "Irina" e "Rock band".
Difficile trovare una collocazione al Bepi: si pensa a Van de Sfroos, ma in realtà le somiglianze sono molto poche. Si pensa a Elio e le Storie Tese, ma in questo caso la componente locale è molto più accentuata...forse si pensa semplicemente al Bepi che proprio perchè unico piace, divide, fa discutere, ma difficilmente passa inosservato.
Musicalmente è proprio la fortissima diveristà di generi a diventare una delle caratteristiche principali: anche se forse meno che in passato si passa dal country ("Johnny the sheriff" o "Sella rovente") al rock ("Spèi fèmne" o "Sta al mont adès"), dalla chanson ("Ol süpermercàt" o "Gleno") al funky ("Irina), dallo stile anni '30 di "Al fiòca 'n piasa" all'hard di "Balù" o "Rock Band".

Gleno is the most important work that Bepi & The Prismas realized 'til now. A CD that keeps the funny characteristics of the old works, but doesn't hide more serious purposes, very often without the usual cloud of irony or satire.
Over all the songs stands "Gleno", a long and many-sided, splendid tribute to Gleno's disaster victims (divided in 3 tracks), in Scalve valley (north Italy), December the 1st 1923, when the Gleno's dam ruined at 7.15 a.m. and destroyed all the villages along the rivers Povo, Dezzo and Oglio killing more than 350 people.
To mention the presence of Tiziana Manenti, famous italian christian-pop singer, who gets perfectly in the femme-fatale rule in "Spèi fèmne" (a words-joke that sounds similar to "bitches"), Vincenzo Albini (violin), the lutist Valter Biella (manufacturer of the baghèt,a typical Bergamo's bagpipe), Stefano Berto (keyboards, he often plays with Anna Oxa) and many others.
Sport-theme is touched by "Erba e néf", a song about (and with) Mario Poletti, a skyrunner from Clusone (the village next the one where Bepi lives) who completed the Orobie's way (a mountain path 84 km long and a difference in altutude of 5000m) in 8h 52'31"! The real limit (or the best wapon) of Bepi & The Prismas is always the hard Bergamo's dialect they use, the real one from Seriana Valley, made a little bit lighter by the italian translation you can find in the book of the CD and on the site www.ilbepi.com ("Cansù").
Two songs are almost entirely in Italian: "Irina" and "Rock Band".
It's really difficult to put Bepi in a precise genre: you can think to Van de Sfroos, but they're really not so similar. You can think to Elio e le Storie Tese, but Bepi's more local...maybe it's easier to say that Bepi is Bepi and because of his unicity people like him, don't like him, debate about him, but it's hard not to note him.
Musically is just the deep difference between the songs to get a clear mark of Bepi & The Prismas: perhaps less than in the past you will find country music ("Johnny the sheriff" or "Sella rovente"), rock music ("Spèi fèmne" or "Sta al mont adès"), chanson ("Ol süpermercàt" o "Gleno"), funky ("Irina"), 30's style ("Al fiòca 'n piàsa"), hard rock ("Rock Band" or "Balù").
