Akil is a very talented artist, producer, and songwriter. Predictably the one of the best rappers of 2006. His music is best described as 'Street Conscious' Born and raised in the Bay Area, Akil left home at only 13 and has since never returned. He spent years in the streets hustling city to city up and down the west coast surviving. Akil was always very conscious of the black struggle in America.

Akil says his idols were Malcolm X, and The Black Panther Party. Listening to the words in Akil's music, you can hear that is very apparent. His poetry and the fact that he refused to do drugs and alcohol during his early yearsis what kept him focused and out of the grave yard and penitentiary.
