Details:
Combine the outstanding musical artistry of British-born songwriter and composer Chris Cutler with the smooth jazzy vocals of Laura Pursell, and you have Almost Blue, a musical collaboration and songwriting team five years in the making. While living in the UK, Chris had signed a deal with A&M Records and spent an exhilarating time recording in George Martins Air Studios with world-renowned producer Glyn Johns. In 1995, Chris moved to LA where he quickly established a solid reputation as a session guitarist, working extensively with Matt Malley of the Counting Crows. With three albums to her credit, It Had to Be Swing, Unkissed, and Thats What Christmas Used to Be, Laura has performed on the LA jazz circuit with the likes of Earl Palmer, Ross Tomkins, George Gaffney, Carl Saunders, Larry Koonse, Ron Anthony, Chuck Berghofer. Her 2001 single, What Only Love Can Do (written by the late Randy Van Wormer and Dean McTaggart) received national airplay in all 50 states and charted on Billboards Impact Airplay Monitor. The two came together in 2001 to make demos for other songwriters and discovered they had created their own unique writing and production style, a blend of Cutlers British rock influences and Pursells mellow vocalsand Almost Blue was born.
