Details:
Alien Relative is Andrew Humes and Rick Borgia and some of the best musicians and singers anywhere. Andrew has lived in places as diverse as Paris, Australia, Vienna and Long Island. Having learned such classics as âHand Down Your Head, Tom Dooleyâ and âMr.Tambourine Manâ on the ukelele at the age of 7, his cool older brother, Carl, introduced him, at age 10, to Jimi Hendrix, with Curtis Knight(and other cool stuff), by laying his head on a pillow between a pair of KLH speakers at serious volume. After years of travel and formal education, Andrew majored in World Music (or ethnomusicology)with the great sitar player and music teacher, Thom Lipiczky, at a small New England college, with a co-major in Russian Literature.(Dostoyevsky Rocks!) A lifelong musician, songwriter, poet, philosopher and all-around cool dude, (even his kids agree), Andrew only records that which represents a truthful heart. He is proud to have worked with Rick Borgia and the many great artists who made âAlien Relativeâ a special, and unique body of music.

Rick Borgia is a genius of the visual and auditory arts. Rick, who has lived in New York City, Detroit, Amsterdam, Paris and currently in Columbus, Ohio, has embraced the full gamut of creative experience. An award winning visual artist, multi-talented composer, producer, and bona-fide rock star performance icon, Rick has done it all. A lot of people call themselves artists; Rick is the definition of artist. He has kept a journal of thoughts, philosophy and art since he was eight years old. He has played guitar for many artists, as well as appearing with the Mink DeVille band (a soulfull, gypsy rock band featuring the one and only Willie DeVille), touring the U.S. and Europe for years. His experiences in film and video production, graphic design, fine art, music, large scale stage performance, rock star living and love contribute to the true and unique perception he shares with all those lucky enough to listen or look. Ask anyone who knows him. Heâs beyond description, and a very, very cool cat.

Produced by Rick Borgia and Andrew Humes, Alien Relativeâs sound is a collaborative effort of some of the best musicians in the U.S or, for that matter, the world. The great Thommy Price on drums and percussion(Joan Jett, Billy Idol etc.), Kool Kenny Margolis(Lucky Seven, Cracker, Rogueâs March))on keyboards,(Hammond B3 to Yamaha Grand),the brilliant music master âCountâ Louis Cortelletzi on horns and flute, rock-operatic Trudy Christâs haunting backup vocals, the refined and delicate ivory tickling of Jim West on âMy One And My Onlyâ, the great Janice Pendarvis, with J.Armstead and B.Massey doing backup vocals on âBay St.â, with Joe Vasta on bass. We borrowed some of these cats from the iconic Willie DeVilleâs rockinâ gypsy, spanish harlem superband, Mink DeVille, when they were the hottest, coolest band in the Big Apple along with Cyndi Lauperâs band, âBlue Angelâ. Recorded and mixed at Workshoppe Studios by the Master masterer, Rob Bengston, Rick and Andrew are proud to have shared good times and music with these very cool people. Thanks to Thom Gilbert and Eric Eiser for the cover.
Play this loud, on a good system for maximum effect. Enjoy!
