Details:
Drawing from Eastern art and philosophy the band creates a soundworld of elegant simplicity. Core members John Lima and Peter Scartabello formed anechoic in 2000 and embarked on their search for new textures and modes of sound creation. The process of writing stems primarily from their improvisations, in which they often use extended techniques, rather than drawing from the conventional resource pool. The band was formed out of their aversion to current trends in "popular" music and is used as a place of spiritual nourishment in the growing wasteland of modern music. Their ambitious timbral explorations often bring them to a place of deep philosophical insight in which they are forced to reinvent themselves both musically and personally. The music that is created is pared down in a way that is in direct opposition to what they have created individually in the past. In this way the act of creation can only come through a painfull dismantling of past notions of artistic developement and creation. Everything must be unlearned and you must in a sense uncondition yourself. The techniques should be there, but not conciously called upon.
