Details:
"Don't Blame The Rain On Me" is a top-notch disc. Country Artist A.C. Brooks is a gifted songwriter, and his raspy Southern drawl adds a genuine charm to the proceedings. There are even a few spots where Brooks' voice cracks and sounds like a yodeler with asthma, but it sounds so cool when it happens that you can't blame him for leaving it in. He doesn't have the most polished voice out there but he's got style to spare.
Brooks' tunes range from country-rockers("Things Could Be Worse") to sensitive ballads ( "American Night" and "When I See You Again") to Western swing( "A Hole The Size of Texas ") to laugh-packed shitkickers (" Big Strong Man " and " Gonna Make You See Elvis"). Only one song, "The Googee Woogee Song ", could be considered a dud. It's catchy enough; it's just that the title is so dumb that it's embarassing to say it out loud.
With excellent production and superb backing music, Brooks delivers the country goods with this release. So-called "young country" fans will like it because of its energy, and " old country" fans will like it because of Brooks' obvious respect for the greats of yesteryear.
