A portrait of Alea Jacta Est Blues Band. (La Suerte está echada)
The Band lives down in Chihuahua México 280 miles south Cd.Juárez and the borderline with Texas as well.
Daniel Martinez is the main composer of the Band. He begun the project back in 2004. Then, Ulises Martinez,
Enrique Zuñiga,Abraham Magaña,Julia Medina, Arturo Medrano, and Fidel Gallegos came alone to enrich the whole stuff whith their
advice, arrangements, compositions and musical skillness. Enrique Zuñiga is the Composer of La Ciudad and plays the second requinto on
Lemma Sabachtaní. Ulises Martínez made Redoble Funebre in co-authoring with Daniel, dedicated to their dead relatives.
The song Cancion de cuna (Lullaby) talks about the hundreds of women slained in Cd.Juárez, as helplessly victims of extreme poverty:
-- And says: ".....fly away tender dove.....search for another heaven....a place where you do not have to cry a tear no longer...." -----
Blues de Teresa is a Bolero-Blues blend and it´s lirycs were wrote by Santa Teresa de Avila back in the 16th century.
Memorial de Sta. Teresa is constructed as a Synphonical Poem ,where the Electric Guitar appears as Concertante. This work sings to the
beautiful woman Teresa de Cepeda y Ahumada was as a living being. A roaring sound leads to El Vuelo del Espiritu which is constructed as
a Spaniard Dance strongly influenced by the works of Gaspar Sanz and The Vihuelistas Españoles of the 17th century.
De Piratas y Bufones talks about a young man who wanna become a millionaire.....regardless the rest of Mankind.
The lirycs of Blues de San Juan were wrote by San Juan de la Cruz , a true Spiritual Master, back in the 16th Century as well.
Lemma sabachtaní means "Why have you leave me?", the words JesusChrist told at the edge of eternity. Arturo Medrano sings inLatin:
---Elí, Elí,Lemma Sabachtaní....Tristis est anima mea usque ad mortem....Pater mi, si posibile est, transeat a me calix iste...................
Daniel dares to make a tune with such words. Why?: Daniel said:.".....well..... because I believe we all feell the same at any given time in our lives"
Malgre Tout and La Paloma are inspired by the jams Daniel hearded as a boy, back in the sixtiees, in the Tardeadas at the University Campus and public squares of Chihuahua performed by young and big hearted musicians of our beloved City nowadays ruled by Los Conservadores.
La Ciudad was recorded at Bar El Sureño in Santo Niño,Enrique on guitar, Daniel on Bass, Fidel on Drums,Ulises on keyboard.December
2005 at Chihuahua (Dry and sandy place=chihuahua in Tarahumara Language). There was a lot of buzz, cholos, cheros and pachucos-
Somebody asked: hey....why Blues?......we answered :.......why not?.......musical genres does not belongs to any particular person
but mankind".... Hope you like VIVA EL BLUES...
