Wuddha stands poised to make an indelible impression on the music world. In the spirit of R&B pioneers like Al Green, Stevie Wonder and D'Angelo, and electrified by some of the finest musicians on the West Coast, Wuddha fuses the vintage sounds of Motown with the pulse of modern soul.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Wuddha (a.k.a. Dawud Dumisani Hakim Rafi Raamah/Mark Jones) spent the majority of his life in Sacramento, California, where he began an intensive nine-year program of musical study. Out of high school, he received a Division I athletic scholarship, and worked as a mentor for at-risk youth. Dawudâs graduate work earned him a Doctorate of Dental Surgery, which subsequently led to his current dental practice, situated on the Hopi Reservation, in Arizona.
In early Spring 2005, realizing that the moment was ripe to formally begin work on his debut professional release, Wuddha joined forces with John Bennett and many other up and coming west coast talents.. After months of extensive studio recording presently available is Welcome Home the first single from the upcoming debut album by this vibrant Soul singer, stunningly mixed by Russel âThe Dragonâ Elevado (DâAngelo, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, The Roots).
As founder of Sum Moâ Records, Wuddhaâs talents are endless. He acts as writer, composer, producer, and performer on his new self-titled 4 song EP due out Mid-Spring 2006. His sound possesses a creative and innovative style that could only be described as Wuddha (With Unconditioned Devotion Divine Happiness Appears). His approach of real and spiritual living is embodied in his music, music that will take audiences on a journey uninhibited, and unexplained. Wuddha has developed into one of the most sought after new artists around the country.
The self-titled EP is released on Wuddhaâs own Sum Moâ Records.
