Winterfell is a Pennsylvania-based band that plays a technical brand of traditional power metal drawing influences from such bands as Manowar and Iced Earth.

After the underground release of the bands 4 song EP/demo, "Winter is Coming" in late 2002, and a small amount of subsequent US shows, and festival appearances thereafter, the positive feedback from the metal community and critical acclaim from such publications as RockHard magazine and Metal Maniacs, drove Winterfell to complete their first full length independent album. Recorded at Trax East Studios in New Jersey, this nine track effort further showcases the twin guitar leads and riff driven rhythms of Andy Craven and Jason Nadeau, and the melodic vocal styles of Robb Graves (often compared to the former Iced Earth front man Matt Barlow). Entitled, "The Veil of Summer", Winterfell's debut album also introduces the bands new lineup. Including the bass work of Greg Weitknecht and pounding drums of Eddie Van Silva, the combined talents of each member and strong emphasis on solid song writing allow Winterfell to compose tracks that are diverse in speed, technicality, and emotion.
