WhiteRoom was assembled five years ago between friends Alex Dray and Eddy Silva, but since then has gradually progressed into a creature with a life of its own. While directed and coordinated by two people, this project was only made possible by the generous and enthusiastic involvement of the fourteen Montreal musicians who contributed to the finished sound.

WhiteRoom Is

WhiteRoom came to be after Alex and Eddy spent 6 years involved in the Montreal music scene. They took a moment to stand and reflect: The passion of the music scene has been absorbed by commercial mixes; the art of lyricism has been twisted into sensationalism; those we looked up to as truly innovative minds have retreated back into the day to day struggle to survive, underexposed and underappreciated. The proposed alternative is a music which openly defies the traditional norms of the commercial music industry. This hyphenated style feeds the overwhelming obsession felt by Alex Dray and Eddy Silva, an obsession that must be played, recorded and listened to. Above all, WhiteRoom seeks to bring about thoughtfullness in music.
