This band was formed from a desire to make music that embraces the philosophy and styles of jazz and merging them with the sounds of R&B, soul, house, and break-beat/drum&bass. The Nu Standards offers much more than any typical nu-jazz album in that it gives you not just great grooves, but also excellent improvisation.

This album was produced to simulate what you would see at a live show. Recording âoff-the-floorâ and minimal editing helped to ensure this. That you hear is a tight band playing tunes and helping to push jazz forward in the 21st century.

Some songs were born out of happiness, such as âBlue Funkâ and âCoffee & Pokerâ. Others out of pain, such as âThe Worst Nightâ. âBig Babyâ and âStrobeâ were created to combine the love of electronic and dance music with jazz. A song like âDirty Sâ is a homage to the jazz-funk acts that inspire us to do what we do. âA Bluer Blueâ is a new take on the modern blues sounds of Chicago which are combined with a contemporary jazz sound.
