Description:
Don't bore us, get to the chorus - urban/rural rock & roll is full of hooks, harmonies and axes with the subtlety of acoustics, the energy and drive of power pop and the substance to make you think.
11 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, POP: Folky Pop
Details:
Whet is in a strange place for rock & roll. They don't have to sell their CD to survive. They aren't starving artists. They aren't touring 'til they drop. So that leaves them in the atypical position of having to find something else to drive them to make music. However, all they have to do is look at the day-to-day drama of their lives, and they have to look no further. Like everybody else, they're just regular guys trying to get by, and shit happens (good, bad and indifferent). Along the way, they've found a way to express the stuff they see about themselves and others in songs. There's nothing like capturing one of those few moments when they're actually moved, touched and inspired by something, and putting it down in words and music. That's what Whet does.
Whet is a Chicago, Illinois band that started in 1998, and has been playing in the Chicago independent scene since 2000. Whet's music is guided by its acoustic roots, but driven by the energy of its rock influences.
Whet was lucky enough to hook up with the co-producer of Universal Record's critically acclaimed release by Ike Reilly, Salesmen & Racists, Ed Tinley. Ed took them from the living room couch to rock & roll.
Whet's influences are diverse and far reaching, from early rock & roll, to jam bands, to alternative and acoustic rock of today. They are driven by one principle; don't bore us get to the chorus. So they sound more like a jam band without the jam.
