Hard pop melodic punk alternative rock with attitude from austin's classic new rock era
14 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Emo, ROCK: Punk
Details:
If "something old is new again" can be said about anything, here comes Mars Needs Women & Other Big Hits to prove it, featuring newly found material from the earliest days of Austin's hard-pop-punk-wave-whatever era. But the music will appeal most to people who weren't yet born when the stuff was created, so we are emphatic that this is not a nostalgia project. We like 1 Block People 2 Bored Stiff 11 Shoot 'em Down (A dating song? Eek!) the very hard core 4 Human Trash and 8 Peggy Sue which is pretty much a square dance gone berserk. Of course we love the hard stuff too, especially 13 Why We Bitch. Lots. But you know how things are these days. (hush - someone might hear you). One or more of the seven deadly words shows up on cuts 5-10-12-14. Track 13 expresses bitch as an intransitive verb. This album should be played loud so as to retain its garage-band zaniness. It has been engineered as a cross between a noisy Phil Spector (huh?) production and a Del Shannon (who?) 45 rpm single (what?). The insert includes info about the band, lyrics, and so on. We like to call the artist S-T-B. The original groups were STB Jerryskids and Sharon Tate's Baby, but it's really all the same thing. Thanks for listening. We care about your feedback, so let us have it - don't be shy - chris@whatcanyousay.net
