The next bold step forward from former Spinning Jennies frontman Jeff Shelton, "Under the Arrows" picks up where last year's Well Wishers debut left off - with even bigger hooks, warm ringing guitars, and cascading vocal harmonies.
11 MP3 Songs
POP: Power Pop, ROCK: Modern Rock
Details:
Following the demise of Spinning Jennies, one of San
Francisco's most revered and long-lived power pop
bands, frontman Jeff Shelton formed the Well Wishers
to explore his talents as a solo artist and further mine
the deeply melodic foundation of the Jennies' unique
style of pop. Released in Spring 2004 on pop-friendly
Notlame Records, the Well Wishers sparkling debut
"Twenty-Four Seven" charged out of the gates with a
full-bodied, pure pop sound that garnered instant
critical acclaim in the indie pop press. The album's rich
melodic tracks, driven heavily by acoustic guitars,
warm, ringing electrics, and cascading vocal harmo-
nies punctuate Shelton's penchant for elaborate pop
arrangements and memorable musical hooks.
Released in October 2005, the Well Wishers 2nd full-length "Under the Arrows" further delivers on the band's promise to offer a big, well-rounded pop album that transcends the staleness of commercial-radio rock and forgettable pop cliches. The Well Wishers' aim is to creep into your life and extol the virtues of timeless, well-crafted music.
