Trio Encompas may be best described as Avant Groove. Members draw inspiritation from Jazz backgrounds, as well as world music and the Dutch, Chicago, and Los Angeles avant garde movements. Described by one follower as "a poor man's THE FRINGE".

Trio Encompas recorded their debut, self-titled album as part of The Wire magazine's RPM CHALLENGE. The goal of the challenge was simple -- record an album in one month, start to finish. This recording is much of the same material recorded in a live show sponsored by The Wire magazine. The energy was high that evening and the band claimed quite a few visitors to the Vaughan Mall.
