(ID 1295662)
One of a dying breed of young bands who embrace singer/songwriting with a passion but don't let it hold them down either. Tramps & Thieves have been highly praised for their super-potent blend of Rock and Country. Some describe their music as Americana,

COUNTRY: Country Rock, ROCK: Americana

Details:
Tempe, Arizonaâs Tramps & Thieves have been slugging it out in the bars and clubs of the desert Southwest for several years now. Their recording debut "Mill Avenue Cowboys", an acoustic E.P. from 2004, was an accurate picture of the band at the time. But in the two-and-a-half years and countless shows since then the band has grown up a bit. With the release of "Spittin Into The Wind", the band is poised to make some noise outside of their desert home.
The album is full of the songs that have made Tramps & Thieves a favorite in Arizona. From the first sounds of the rockinâ opening track, "World is Waiting", it is clear the band has expanded their sound since Mill Avenue Cowboys. The country vibe of "Call You Baby", the classic rock tones of "Sidewinder", and the pop influenced rock and roll of "L.A." and "Porcupine Jacket" highlight the different styles and sounds Tramps & Thieves love to combine into their home brew. But the constant, unchanging heart of the band, and their new CD, is quality songwriting. That foundation allows them to delve into different types of music, while still maintaining a clear identity. Call it "country-folk-rock with an outlaw hippie attitude," or new classic rock, call it whatever you choose, but it is undoubtedly Tramps & Thieves music.
Emmett DeGuvera and J. Scott Howard are the songwriting soul of the band. Both of them are originally from the Detroit area, though the duo met one another once they had each relocated to Arizona separately. Strangely enough the rhythm section of the band is also comprised of Midwestern transplants. Bassist Andy Jensen is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and met the band in and around the bars in Tempe. Drummer Ryan Ferguson moved to the Phoenix area from Columbus, Ohio. Scott and Ryan new each other before Tramps & Thieves was formed, but had lost touch. A chance meeting at a downtown Phoenix bar filled both the bandâs need and Ryanâs desire to get back into the game. Rarely does a group supplement each other as wonderfully as Tramps & Theives: the bandâs natural intimacy as friends is contagious and fans are often drawn to the band simply because they have so much fun together on stage.
Whether they are on a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico, a dive bar in Tempe, or club in Los Angeles, Tramps & Thieves are at home on stage playing their songs. In support of "Spittinâ Into the Wind", the band will be playing as much as they can â in as many different places as they can â laying down their hearts and souls for all the new friends across the country that come to see them.
