Details:
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Toni Hutchinson (better known as Lady T) is a talented songstress, an accomplished producer, writer, composer, and pianist. Her husband coined her style of music as âChrist-Jazzâ.
Known as the lady who sings when she speaks, Toniâs voice is said to have a soothing and healing quality. Ordained as a minister in 1993 in Wilmington, Delaware, she has preached and sung all across the United States and in Toronto, Canada.
Since Toni came from a very talented and musical family, singing and acting have always been a few of her passions. She started out singing with her siblings in the Metropolitan Baptist Church choir. When in the 7th grade, she was selected out of thousands of singers in Maryland, DC, and Virginia to do a TV special with Elizabeth Montgomery (of the âBewitchedâ TV show) and musical group Jan and Dean. Toni had one of the lead roles (Yum Yum) in Gilbert and Sullivanâs Mikado when she was only 13. She sang at President Carterâs inauguration festivities at the Kennedy Center; appeared at night clubs all over the Washington metropolitan area; toured with the Jubilee Majestic Concert Choir; toured with a family group, The Lacy Moore Family Ensemble; backed up vocalists around town; was a soloist with the Evangel Temple choir, penning many of their worship songs; performed in The Gospel According to Scrooge, and sang for the Washington Redskins.
Toni penned her first song in 1986 and hasnât looked back. Her style of music is becoming well known as witnessed by guests at a pre-Capital Jazz Fest private party recently and at Camelot in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Wherever Toni sings, people would ask if she has a CD out. Well, the wait is over! She wrote all the lyrics and co-wrote the music on this debut CD. Just like her Lord and Savior said, âthe words I speak are spirit and life.â So, too, Toni can say the words in her songs are spirit and they are life. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the unique, fresh ministry sounds of Lady T.
