Details:
With a voice dirty as Dobie Gray, Tony Ozier blends hip hop and R&B to create a sound enjoyed by all generations worldwide. Combining old school funk with sounds of the new millennium, Ozier pounds out original productions that rock the house and keep crowds thirsty for more. With roots planted in the dirty south and stretching across the country, this artist and producer has emerged from the underground to add new flavor to both hip hop and R&B.

Raised in Freeport, Texas, Ozier found his love for soul music in the music of Stevie Wonder, Gill Scott Heron, and Curtis Mayfield. Though spending most his childhood in Texas, it was the summers in Michigan that Ozier developed a love for funk and first envisioned himself on stage. âI can still remember being five years old at the Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo with my dad. We saw the Parliament Funkadelics, Ohio Players, and Cameo. I said, âthat is what I want to do!ââ

At the age of 18, Ozier made a move to Michigan where his influences grew larger and his horizons widened. In the midst of the Midwest, Ozier began playing keyboards. Like metal to magnets Ozierâs fingers had a natural attraction to the keys and he quickly became part of Michiganâs underground hip hop scene joining the live hip hop group The Urbanights. After enjoying both local and regional success, the band briefly emerged from the underground to engage in a tour across Japan.

Wanting to further delve into the scene, Ozier studied and received a degree in studio engineering and moved out West to further perfect his craft. Ozier has lived in worked in Los Angeles and Atlanta as a producer, songwriter, and artist for over 5 years. He is an accomplished engineer as well, with several underground hip hop and R&B albums to his credit.

Ozier performed regularly at clubs throughout Los Angeles and the Midwest with his band, as well as several others for the past 10 years. In 2004 his band, The DDFC, received a unanimous vote for the Los Angeles Music Award for Best Funk Artist of The Year. He is currently in the studio working on several production projects with BeatsGalore Records and Southern Kings Entertainment.
