"Some call Tatopani "contemporary world music," but such a simple description doesn't do justice to the musical magic they conjure up. So unique and engaging is their sound that "Tatopani music" is perhaps the most apt description."

Details:
Tatopani is a Tokyo-based trio made up of Americans, Christopher Hardy and Robbie Belgrade, and an Australian, Andy Bevan. The group has been together since 1994, and in that time their music has continued to evolve while maintaining the improvisational spirit and freedom which initially brought them together. They are multi-instrumentalists with wide-ranging musical backgrounds, which makes for unusual instrumental combinations and a diversity of sound you might not expect from a trio.

"Themes from Dreams" is Tatopani's 2nd album. It is a collection of musical themes - dreamed, remembered and pieced together. It documents compositions we have performed in concert over the past few years, as well as showing the current state of the group's ongoing musical development. Two of the pieces presented here are taken directly from live performances. Though the rest of the CD was not recorded live as such, we have tried to capture the mood, energy and spontaneity of a live setting.
