Details:
Thank you for your curiosity.
I have been a psychotherapist for 20 years and the lyrics to my songs are very much drawn from the window on the human condition that I have been privvy to. I have also been dealing with a fairly serious illness for many years now and that experience has taken me to the depths and produced songs about being marginalized as well as questions of faith. I also think laughing keeps us all sane and several of my songs reflect my sense of humor.

I have been influenced by the writing of Cheryl Wheeler and Nanci Griffith and the singing of Patsy Cline and Alison Kraus. The CD's musical sound varies from contemporary folk to country and country blues. Each song has just one additional instrument on it as I love a simple sound. Pat Donohue, of Prairie Home Companion, plays on several songs, Paul Elliot plays violin, Dylan Reik makes two songs nearly weep with his compositions on the cello, and Dan Tyak creates a true county sound on two songs on both the dobro and pedal steel guitar.

My first teacher was local legend Linda Waterfall. And I have soaked up the teaching of many amazing musicians at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. The support of that community took me from a stage fright-stricken beginner to a recording artist who now loves to perform.

One of my favorite compliments ever was that my voice is "pure, clear, and yet also has balls."
I hope you enjoy it.
