Unique jazz that combines modern compositions and improvisation with past traditions and virtuoso guitar playing. The music draws from the entire range of jazz tradition, including bebop, modern, latin, ballads, and free improvisation.
7 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Bebop, JAZZ: Traditional Jazz Combo
Details:
Finally, a great recording of this trio playing at it's best featuring the unbelievable drumming that is unique to Dane. Recorded live at the Cuda Cafe 4-22-06. The music draws from the entire range of jazz tradition, including bebop, modern, latin, ballads, and free improvisation. Jack sums it up nicely, "We put the history and future of music in the blender and play that."
Jack and Kirk have spent many years perfecting and playing the "super-ax". The instrument has both bass and guitar strings which allow them to take turns soloing and comping for each other. When one solos, the other complements with chords on the guitar section and lines on the bass section, eliminating the need for a bass player.
