Timothy Berry is the lead vocalist, percussionist, and director of Praise Groove, a gospel group based in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul). In addition he is the Artistic director of the Waconia Creative Arts Institute. Mr. Berry holds a B.S. degree in Music Education and Performance from Mankato State University and a Master's degree in Music Education from The University of Minnesota.
Mr. Berry has played hand drums for over 20 years including performances with Paula Mann Dance, Minnesota State University Repertory Dance Theater, The Heart of The City Band, Master Classes, and school presentations that emphasize African American Music and History. He has conducted workshops and served as tenor soloist for several choirs, throughout the Midwest. In addition, he has given presentations in schools and universities on issues surrounding race, black culture, and race relations.
He has performed nationally as a singer, actor, and instrumentalist with theater, orchestral, and opera companies, including plays such as August Wilson's "Fences" with Penumbra Theater, and âLa Bohemeâ with the Minnesota Opera. He has also performed with Grammy Award winner, Larnelle Harris.
