âWith Tim Louis in our backyard, who needs Michael Buble? Or Peter Cincotti, Matt Dusk, Denzil Sinclaire or any of the other up-and-coming jazz croonersâ¦â

âLouis, who has just released his impressive debut album Til It Be Tomorrow, rivals the romantics with an 11 song original effort as a triple-threat talent: singer, songwriter, pianist.â

by Nick Krewin for NightLife

âEasy listening with a contemporary groove best describes Tim Louisâ debut CD Til It Be Tomorrow.â ââ¦the arrangements are upbeat and breezy..each song has you looking forward to the next one.â âItâs a âfeel-goodâ recording that is best enjoyed with a glass of wine and your closest friends.â

With his relaxing touch on the piano and natural vocal delivery Tim Louis provides a collection of self-penned tunes that are undeniably infectious: jazz in its simplicity. There's a timeless quality to his music that is both comforting and refreshing at the same time. Original and intoxicating with inspired playing from his piano-based quartet, this romantic and soothing album will seduce you with its smooth approach. Intelligent and without clichés, this intimate and sophisticated cd is sure to appeal to both jazz enthusiasts and those for whom jazz is just a nice accompaniment to life.
Having played piano since he was five, Tim earned a BA in Music at Rutgers University in NJ, studying under jazz great Kenny Barron. A real self-assurance and maturity is displayed in his debut album Til it be Tomorrow. "I wrote all the songs for the album by sitting at my piano with music staff paper and a pencil. The songs had to work at that level. My goal was to capture the basic elements of creative lyrics and catchy melodies."
Choosing that style of music should come as no surprise for a musician born and raised just outside of Hoboken, New Jersey, the birthplace of Frank Sinatra. It didn't, however, happen right away. "Growing up, my grandmother always told to 'learn the standards' so I did what any teen would do, I joined a rock band." Moving from Jersey to Canada for personal reasons (read: a girl), Tim settled down in Kitchener, Ontario just long enough to get right back on the road. This time it was country music - writing and touring for Lace and Jason McCoy among others. Tim earned nominations for Country Music Association Keyboard Player of the Year for three years and a SOCAN award for his Jamie Warren tune, "Sunny Day in the Park." "I took all of the experience I had gained to pull back and do my own thing."
His own thing is Til it be Tomorrow, a collection of eleven originals. These imaginative songs showcase Tim's songwriting acumen in the traditional side of jazz with shades of melodic pop.
