Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" premiered in 1924 in a program alongside pieces incorporating barnyard calls and a tin can. The composer originally called the piece "American Rhapsody" because it was such a melting pot of varied musical elements. So, what better group of artists to revisit this auspicious beginning than The Bobs, with a killer combination of musical chops, acrobatic vocal arranging, and an inscrutable sense of humor that makes them impossible to categorize? Six distinctive cover songs from Kurt Weill to Tom Petty kick off the bandâs 13th album, and guest pianist Bob Malone (www.bobmalone.com) joins on âRhapsody in Blueâ as The Bobs become a Vocal Orchestra.
