60's Italian spy movie sound-tracks done by a fifth grade jazz combo.... severly Suave Lounge Music....Middle Eastern Pop
25 MP3 Songs
EASY LISTENING: Lounge, ELECTRONIC: Soundscapes
Details:
Before the lounge revival reared its well groomed head...before world music turned into Muzak...before weird was in...there was Jac Zinder; the Los Angeles club DJ and promoter who merged all these things, and more, in his quest to amaze and bewilder his audience. He also booked Beck, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Ethyl Meatplow before they were household names. In other words, the man was ahead of his time. As a musician, he took this sensibility even further, creating quirky, inspired tunes that he glibly dismissed as "60s Italian spy movie sound-tracks done by a fifth grade jazz combo" -- as if that were a bad thing! A drunk driver brought Zinder's life to an end -- Thanksgiving 1994, but his music lives on thanks to the efforts of his many friends. "Chairs I have Known" (Catasonic Records) compiles Zinder's work with his groups Stay Home and Bufadora and provides a fitting tribute to this unsung genius. Every home should have one.
