Improvising trio Zen Widow, featuring Sicilian saxophonist Gianni Gebbia and American percussionist Garth Powell, has performed in various combinations, for more than ten years.
In the spring of 2003 they offically formed the trio after an invitation to perform at the Nanjing Jazz Festival. While recording their first CD in preparation for an extensive tour, the SARS epidemic demolished any possibilities of going to China for the year.
Zen Widow shouldered on, headlining the San Francisco Alternative Music Festival, the Seattle Polestar Anniversary Festival, as well as performing throughout the western United States and Europe. There second CD QUOD LIBET will be released in early 2007.
