From the creators of Sister Friction, whoâs desire to be the queerest pop band in the world left them unfulfilled, comes anaROBIK, a kinder and gentler pop ensemble, fronted by the computer-generated pop icon, ana. Helping ana define her sound is producer, songwriter, recording engineer, multi-instrumentalist Bobby Trempealeau.

anaâs latest release is Operatorâs Manual Addendum: The Remixes. The creation of this remix album was happening simultaneously while recording anaâs debut album, Operatorâs Manual (2010). After an aborted and frustrating attempt at working with DJs and their egos, the decision to work entirely with musicians on this remix collection became the obvious choice. The end result is a highly melodic and musical collection of re-interpretations of anaâs songs, remixes that transcend the dance floor and easily move into every facet of everyday life.

Thematically, anaâs songs are all about life. Rather than complain about the state of the world and oneâs (probably boring) personal problems, the easiest and most uncreative form of âcreative expression,â ana prefers to offer suggestions and alternatives to lifeâs challenges. A better way of living influenced by Eastern concepts of mindfulness and meditation... A soundtrack for every moment of life... Yes, there is a better way of living in this incredibly broken and misguided world. Why not take a moment to explore alternatives rather than doing the same things over and over that obviously are not working?

We once again choose to have the collection properly mastered with dynamics intact, not crushingly distorted and loud, because we want anaâs music to sound great, not sound like crap. We also used a hybrid of digital and pure analog mastering processing, adding old school flavor to tracks that would benefit from it, at the discretion of our very talented mastering engineer, Greg Reierson at Rare Form Mastering, Minneapolis.

At the end of the album are a cappellas for end-users to create their own remix. A never-ending remix contest will release the best remixes as a digital singles.

+ anaROBIK shall be the musical creative vehicle for ana. ana shall consist of ana and/or her collaborators, who shall also assume the name and spirit of ana.
+ anaROBIK shall create musical compositions consisting of catchy melodies and body-friendly rhythms. These compositions shall exhibit some characteristics of the musical style known as electronic popular music.
+ anaROBIK shall express the editorial insights of ana, which completely represent the views and opinions of ana.
+ The arrangements of anaâs compositions shall feature generous amounts of electronically generated sounds, as well as the occasional sound requiring the use of a microphone, otherwise known as an acoustic sound.
+ Womanual performances by ana as well as computer performances programmed by ana shall be used to create a rich and warm melding of woman and machine.
+ anaROBIK shall use high-quality analog and digital electronic devices to capture the performances of ana with optimal sonic clarity.
+ anaROBIK shall use balanced production techniques with minimal audio compression to maximize listener enjoyment.
