Some jazz fanatics insist that it is not really jazz unless it is live
and uncut. That is why the Original Wildcat Jass Bandâs newest release,
LIVE, is long overdue. Well established as masters of the recording
studio, this time around the Wildcats present their unique talent in its
purest form, live! Recording engineer master, Jack Miller, has captured
the essence of the Wildcatsâ amazing improvisational skills at the
Arizona Classic Jazz Festival held in November 2009.

Their fourth album includes a mixture of fan favorites from
earlier studio recordings as well as several new songs from the Wildcat
repertoire. In this newest effort, trumpet man Jason Carder shows
why many consider him to be âthe best jazz trumpet player of his
generation.â As always the amazing Dr. Kelland Thomas is Jasonâs
willing accomplice on soprano sax with the incomparable Rob Boone
rounding out the front line on trombone.

The rhythm section, anchored by Ray
Templin on drums and piano, Dr. Kelly Thomas on
tuba, and Rob Wright on banjo, is solid as ever.
