Details:
The compact disc, Sonando en Alaska, La Ultima Frontera, is a compilation of 13 songs by different artists and styles. It includes Salsa, Reggaeton, Latin Jazz and Plena. The artists are Ray Ramos ,Van Lester, Willie Villegas, Abuid âHumpyâTroche, Raffy Diaz, Hector Rios, Kenney Reyes and Richie Stubb, a local artist..

Beginning in 1990 and throughout the decade Latin artist toured to perform in Anchorage, often times with openings acts by locals seeking exposure.

Initially, the intent was to bring Latin music to Anchorage to enhance cultural enrichment.. Flying the groups to Anchorage became increasingly difficult, as dance halls became dominated by the more affluent promoters, who were given priority.

Kenny Reyes, leader of the music group Tres -Equis, suggested to Eduardo the idea of a CD compilation. Although Eduardo liked the idea he thought the project would require more work than he wanted to invest.

After much thought, Eduardo decided to give the CD compilation a try. He began by drawing a contract and designing a record label. Of the many artist that during the 10 years toured Anchorage, only a few were able to commit to the project.

The project was almost ready for release when the war in Iraq broke out. Eduardo, now retired from the US Army Reserve, was called to serve an 18month tour of duty in Iraq. The project was postponed.

A year and a half later Eduardo returned to resume the project. On December 2nd, the Anchorage community will join him in a CD release party.
