Details:
Given a guitar by his grandmother when he was 15, John quickly put his background in music from playing the piano and trombone to good use. After playing in a few different bands in high school, John began to delve into solo music upon entering college. Influences ranging from Ryan Adams to Tom Waits and Iron & Wine helped to morph his style into the unique sound he has today. John has played all over Wisconsin, as well as in Colorado, Iowa, New Brunswick, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Illinois and Michigan. He has played at the first annual "Midwest Acoustic Music Festival" in Elkhart Lake, WI, as well as the first annual "Local Music Festival" in Oshkosh, WI, and "Brat Fest" and the "Taste of Madison" in Madison, WI. John was featured on the Wisconsin Public Radio show "Higher Ground with Jonothan Overby" in February of 2004. He has been featured in newspapers such as UW-Oshkosh's "Advanced-Titan", the "Oshkosh Northwestern", and the "Waunakee Tribune". For John, 2006 has seen the release of his debut album, "Dusk Came Slow", taking 1st place in UW-Oshkosh's first annual "Acoustic Battle", winning the Madison Songwriters Group's September "Song Showdown", and launching his first tour out east. With new recordings in the works and more focus than ever it looks like 2007 will be an exciting year!
