FOLK: Modern Folk, JAZZ: Smooth Jazz
Details:
I donât even like coffee. The smell, anything with a frap, or mocha grande I really canât stand. But yet I play mostly at coffee houses, that's irony.
Welcome to my bio, my nameâs Steve. Iâm working on a new cd right now, which Iâm calling California Sky. Iâve been playing out, doing shows, since the beginning of â03. Slowly getting better every time until at last I can say that Iâd listen to myself if that werenât weird.
My sound is best defined as intelligent folk-jazz, but lately Iâve been getting more and more into rock and Iâve been experimenting with effects and looping, building counter-melodies on top of each other. So I guess you could say thatâs also my style.
A couple of bands that have influenced my playing, singing and songwriting are: Jars of Clay, Paul Simon, Toad the Wet Sprocket, U2, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tifton Mile (which is unfortunately now another victim of divorce) and the Adam Project.
My new cd will be out before summer. Itâs far more advanced, instrumentation wise, than my previous albums. I expect good things from it. So if youâre interested, sign up for my newsletter, and Iâll let you know when it debuts. Thanks. âSteve
