Details:
Stygian started back in 1999 when Frank, Steve, and Mike came together in middle school. The first goal was to learn as many Metallica songs as possible because Metallica was and still is their favorite band. After about two years of covering Metallica and giving their friends a good show, they bunkered down and began to write original music. Unlike many bands who quickly start playing live, Stygian refined their skills and did not play live until the beginning of 2003. After Stygian has been part of shows all over the Philadelphia area. There have been several other guitar players that have entered and exited the band until finally Ed Sobon joined in the fall of 2003. It was at this time that Stygian had gotten the final piece they needed as they were now developing a diversified and unique sound. With more and more live shows came more and more experience for the group and people were starting to take notice. 2004 was not an easy year for Stygian after having some difficulties with the direction the band was headed and what the roles of the members should be. They took the time however to get it right. Frank Leary emerged as the groups lead singer, allowing Mike to do what he does best by playing great bass and truly being a spectacle on stage. Ed also took some personal time to get things straighted out. This brings us to now where Stygian is as strong as it ever has been and they are set to release their debut album "Struggle" on November 3rd when they will headline the historic Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia. This is one more step in the right direction and Stygian will not stop working as hard as possible until they are signed and out there on the road playing for all their fans around the world!
