Contemporary Electric Jazz and Jazz-Rock form the stylistic background for the music of Wolfgang Koeck's SPACE CADETS. The idea for this project was born soon after guitarist Wolfgang Koeck and bassist Andi Drabek-Filz met during their studies at the Jazz department of the Vienna City Conservatory. In December '99 they found the perfect partner for their project in Bernd T. Rommel, an extraordinary drummer.

All three are experienced studio- and live musicians in such diverse musical styles as Blues, Rock, World Music, Traditional Jazz and Avantgarde. These influences have of course contributed to the sound of Wolfgang Koeck's SPACE CADETS, but above all it is Contemporary Electric Jazz that characterises their music.

The repertoire of Wolfgang Koeck's SPACE CADETS comprises gentle ballads as well as complex, groove-oriented structures with technically demanding solo passages. What is most important to the musicians is their musical individuality and their unique sound.
