The Smokes are a five piece band with roots reaching the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Some call them country others call the Folk, The Smokes; Simply put, just love making interesting noises, some louder then others, but all of them honest. Recently Dave Bertrand of The Nerve Magazine called The Smokes one of Vancouver's best new bands. The band got there start in beautiful East Vancouver over countless beers and maybe even a few tears. Founding members Kalvin Olafson, Evret Tucker and Ryan Hoben started play a few shows here and there; opening up for a few friends, then with the much needed additions of Gram Myrfeld and Jimi Cuell, the band grew some legs and left the primordial swamp to start playing bigger shows to ever enthused crowds. June 2nd marks the long awaited release of The Smokes First full length entitled "Fields and Factory Floors" on the indie label Sealbait. The Smokes Are:
