Ashlan was formed in the summer months of 2003 with the convergence of four musicians, uniting around a desire to create original music and rock live audiences. After nearly a year of developing their material and shaping a cohesive sound, Ashlan's members are seeking to expose their music to greater audiences. Among a plethora of bands, all claiming an original sound, the guys from Ashlan approach their music from a different perspective. "We really just seek to be true to ourselves," says guitarist and songwriter Chris Franz. "We all draw from a wide range of influences and, naturally, they seep into our music." Hints of funk, country, and jazz can all be heard in Ashlan's personally crafted blend of rock music. Finally, the members of Ashlan tie in the vibe of their home state, California, to create a sound that communicates the ebb and flow of daily life, like the waves on the California coast.
