Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Charles Ramsey has recently released his brand new Christmas song, âCashing in on Christmastime.â The song was recorded in November, 2010 at Racetrack Studios in South Philadelphia and features Ramsey on piano, guitar, and vocals, along with Vince Federici on guitar, Dan Manchester on upright bass, and Lance Davis on drums. The recording was produced by Ramsey and Lance Davis (of RokBox Productions) and engineered by Shane Moore.

âCashing in on Christmastimeâ is an upbeat and humorous account of a songwriterâs attempt to profit off the popularity of Christmas music. Set to a driving Johnny Cash-style beat, the song concludes with a spirited chorus of âhave a very merry Christmas baby.â It was recorded in between sessions for Ramseyâs soon-to-be-released EP. The EP, which is also being produced and engineered by Lance Davis at RokBox Productions, will feature five new songs and is due to be released in early-2011.

Ramsey has two previous full-length albums to his name. His most recent album, Good Morning & Good Night was released last year to international acclaim. It ranked in the top 50 of Absolute Powerpopâs âTop 100 Albums of 2009â, and was described as âone of the best releases of 2009â by the Brazil-based music blog Paralelo Pop. In October, 2010, the album was featured on Ian Rothwellâs weekly Salford City Radio program, broadcast in Salford, England.

Since the 2005 release of his first album, Something New, Ramsey has been performing regularly in Philadelphia and New York. He has been featured four times at Jezebel Musicâs âResonanceâ songwriter showcase, a Brooklyn-based event that has played host to some of New Yorkâs top singer/songwriters. In March of 2009, JezebelMusic.com described Ramsey as âone of the finest songsters to perform at Resonance to date.â
