Aja and I met about a year and a half ago in December when our bands (Nico Vega and Imagine Dragons) performed together at the Hard Rock. We talked after the show and felt an immediate connection and need to get to know one another. We exchanged numbers and spent the next few weeks practically attached to our phones talking late into the nights. We truly come from two different worlds. She comes from a very liberal household and I come from a very conservative one. In the beginning we never thought it would be possible to bring two worlds so different together in any way other than a friendship. However, as many have said since the beginning of time, love knows no boundaries. We definitely faced a lot of obstacles together throughout the past year and a half due to the different worlds we come from, but we found that our hearts were the same, and we were far more similar than we had any idea. We began writing songs about what we were experiencing and sending them over the internet to each other (due to being on the road with our bands and living in two different places).

Our difference became songs. Our love became a song. Our funny moments and sayings became lyrics. Our love story inevitably became Egyptian. All the songs and lyrics are about real events. The tones and rhythms of the songs symbolize what we felt and continue to feel as we have built our relationship.

Egyptian continues to be the journal of our lives and we are glad that you noticed it.
