Description:
Selections from two concert seasons from the gay chorus of Saint Louis. Broadway and camp sit side-by-side with some tearjerkers thrown in for good measure.
17 MP3 Songs in this album (60:56) !
Related styles: Easy Listening: Musicals/Broadway, Easy Listening: American Popular Song, Out-and-Proud
People who are interested in Boston Gay Men’s Chorus San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Seattle Men’s Chorus should consider this download.
Details:
This album features music from the first two years of Jeffrey Carter's tenure as Artistic Director of the Gateway Men's Chorus, a group that one reviewer recently called "an increasingly esteemed ensemble." Emotional centerpieces of the album are "The Parade" from "Flashpoint:Stonewall" by Roger Bourland; the group's first big commission, "Rise Above the Walls" by Greg Gilpin (now published by Hal Leonard); and the closing track, a medley of love songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
The album is purposefully campy at times, with "If you were gay" from "Avenue Q" and a trio of 1960's teen pop idol covers. Several songs pay tribute to Judy Garland as well, and are culled from the chorus' "JUDY!" show.
