Due to an extremely fortuitous meeting between Lorne Gibson, and my good friend Maggie Gibbs, at The Wembley Country Music Festival in 1979, which led to marriage, he became one of my closest friends. I had recorded him often for a variety of different programmes on BBC Radio and knew him to be a talented and professional singer. His charm and silken voice had won many admirers way beyond the confines of Country Music, although that always remained his first love.

After I had left the BBC, we discussed the possibility of working on an album together, and we agreed that we should attempt to show the wide variety of Country Music he was more than capable of singing. This album, completed in 2001, was the result. It does, of course, feature a number of ballads, but also acknowledges New Country, and strays into the fringes of Rock ân Roll.

As in our private lives, we worked well together as a team â and even wrote a number of our own for the album! I hope you enjoy listening to this offering as much as we enjoyed making it and, hopefully, it will cause his many fans to remember just how talented my good friend really was.
