I have been a musician for 21 years, a composer for 12, and have recently developed this chiptune style within the past two years. It has quickly become one of my favorite genres and I have nothing but fun whenever I write it. It is not confined to 4 channels, as I am no purist. A purist chiptune has its merits of high level nostalgia, but also has a heavy set of rules and restricted composition capabilities. I believe rules were made to be broken, especially in the music world. Three cheers for fusion!
