In todayâs electronic dance music scene, one must differentiate themselves to remain competitive. DJ Jason Michaels has developed a successful niche in todayâs dance genre by doing just that â being different. In a lifelong marriage with music, Jason had always wanted to offer his music to the world. During Graduate studies in Business at Long Island University, his final class required him to develop of Business plan for a fictitious company. At that point, he decided to create the blueprint for his dream of owning a record label that would someday materialize in true form.

A Native of New York City, Jason has been heavily influenced by NY house, gospel, garage, disco house, tribal, and trance and progressive. Elements of almost of all of these genres are evident in his contributions to music, and his work is known for easily crossing over between sets when Djâs want to make transitions.

In 2004, he created âSoundTribeRekords, Incâ, and seven years later, still maintains a solvent independent label with close to 150 releases. As owner and operator, time is limited for his own productions and remixes. Yet, somehow he pulls it off, and together with Djâing, lifts the crowds with his musical interpretation present in his tracks.

The future remains very bright for SoundTribeRekords as Jason continuously works to expand the labelâs footprint globally. Jason states, âWe want to become a household name like numerous labels out there. We want to contribute to dance music on a global level and help others to enjoy all that dance music has to offer. My main focus right now is to create an institution; a school of thought if you will that will fulfill our legacy in the dance music sceneâ.
