Drew Shafer was born in Austin, Texas, 1983. When he was six years old his family moved to Logansport, Indiana, and he has lived there ever since. Growing up, his musical influences ranged from Whitecross, to Newsboys, to The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Coming Out of Our Shells" tour album. He got involved in middle school band class, where he learned to play basic rhythm on the snare drum, but didn't care to continue with it through high school. When Drew was seventeen years old, he decided to attend First Assembly of God Church, and started playing drums for the youth group there.
Over the next few years he picked up guitar and piano, and began leading worship for the youth group. Through the years Drew continually wrote songs out of the experiences and struggles he was dealing with, playing them for altar services on Wednesday nights. He even took one song to National Fine Arts Convention in New Mexico, and placed in the top 17 in the nation for Songwriting.
In the summer of 2003, he was offered an opportunity to record his first studio album. (Sincerely, Jesus Christ) Which was recorded through December, 2003-January, 2004. It is his first album to date and he wishes to continue with a career in the music industry. Drew mentioned," If you're alive, and have lived long enough to face any kind of trial, the songs on this album will minister to you, and help you through whatever situation you're dealing with." Drew, out of his own personal experiences, wrote every song on the album, which is why he believes people can relate to the lyrics so well. "God has blessed me with the ability to write songs and sing, I just want to take those talents and use them so that other lives can be changed the way God has changed mine."
